We do recommend that you bring your vehicle or rent a car on Gabriola - our home is not within walking distance to restaurants and shopping, and there is no public transit, although there is taxi service on the island. To rent a car, a motorcycle, a scooter or a mountain bike, call CC Rentals

From Victoria

Take the Island Highway to Nanaimo, follow the signs to downtown Nanaimo and Gabriola Ferry.

From the Mainland

BC Ferries - from Vancouver, either the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (1 hour and 35 Minutes), or from Tsawwassen to Duke Point (two hours) will get you to Nanaimo. When you get off the ferry, follow signs to downtown Nanaimo, and Gabriola Ferry.

The ferry to Gabriola takes 20 minutes. Upon arrival, stay on South Road. You will pass the RCMP station on your right. From there, it is 8.7 kilometers to a house on your right with huge gates with maple leaves on them. From that point it is exactly 2 kilometers to Price Road, where you will make a right turn. (The United Church is at that corner on your left) Continue on Price Road until you come to a T intersection with Islands View Drive. Turn right again, and drive down the hill, take the first left on Grilse. One short block to Spring Beach Drive, turn left again, and continue to the end of the road. Our driveway is off the cul-de -sac, at 2530 Spring Beach Drive.

For those people wishing to come without a vehicle, there are 3 other ways to travel from Vancouver to Gabriola:

1. Tofino Air offers flights (float planes) from the South Terminal at Vancouver Airport to Silva Bay on Gabriola. (Check www.tofinoair.ca)
2. Baxter Air (www.baxterair.com) and Harbour Air (www.harbour-air.com) offer flights from downtown Vancouver to downtown Nanaimo. From there, make your way to the Gabriola Ferry Terminal and walk on the ferry.
3. Bring your boat and tie up at Silva Bay Marina or Page's Marina.
